| French architectural bureau Studio NAB has proposed an unusual plan for the reconstruction of the roof of Notre Dame de Paris, which was damaged in a recent fire, writes DailyMail.
The project was presented after French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe proposed to hold an international architectural competition to restore the spire of a cult temple, which would be “adapted to the problems of our time”. The architects developed the concept of turning a damaged roof into a giant greenhouse. They propose replacing the damaged roof of Notre Dame with a glass roof, and under it break a garden and settle 180 thousand bees that survived the fire. It is assumed that the greenhouse and apiary will become an educational center where people can learn about gardening and urban agriculture. “Protection of life, restoration of biodiversity, education of conscience and sociality are all symbols true to the values of France and the church, which we could protect and promote for this project,” the authors of the project note.
