All identified and arrested illegal immigrants will be deported within a month after the arrest. Deputy Prime Minister, Secretary of Defense General Pravit Wongsuvan ordered the Migration Service to tighten measures against illegal immigrants (foreign citizens without a visa or expired visa) and deport them no later than a month after the arrest.
The representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant-General Kongchip Tantravanit, said that General Prahit voiced his order on Monday morning at a meeting of the military, police and the Interior Ministry.
He explained that he cares about the safety of ordinary tourists and wants Thailand to catch all foreign criminals who enter the Kingdom under the guise of tourists.
Goverit said the government received several complaints from different provinces about foreigners being involved in illegal activities. The main problem is that visitors can do work that is reserved exclusively for Thais.
On Monday, information appeared on the Migration Service website that from January to August 2018, Thailand had a permanent population of 1,6 million foreigners. And this is not the Chinese, as you might think. Most of the migrants are Canadians, Dutch, Bangladeshis and Italians (descending).
