The Kingdom of Thailand is a member country of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Thais are incredibly optimistic about the single economic community between the member countries of the association (Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand announced that Thailand will take the chair of ASEAN in 2019. In this regard, 6 September in Bangkok held a press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

Ms. Busadi Sanitipak, Director-General of the Information Department and Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand:

“Thailand plays an important role in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Don Pramudwinai, and other dignitaries, following the call of Prime Minister Mr. Prayut Chan-Och, intend to consider measures to support Member States in creating an ASEAN brand that reflects the values of the region. "
The region faces new challenges, so ASEAN must step up its efforts to strengthen and unite the bloc.
The committee outlined its plans for launching the official website and debut video, which will be shown at the ceremony of handing over the ASEAN chairmanship in November 2018.
One of the tasks of the Committee is to raise public awareness about ASEAN and the upcoming 2019 summit.
Thailand officially takes over the ASEAN presidency from January 1, 2019.
