| In 2019, for the first time Thailand will host the international beauty contest "Miss World".
The 69 edition of the competition will be held at Paya Thai Palace in Bangkok in December 2019.
Ms. Julia Morley, general director of the Miss World contest:
“Not only smiles, but perhaps the Spirit of Thailand, this is what I would like to convey to everyone. This Spirit of Thailand you can feel coming here. It's magical, it's passionate, ”said 80-year-old Morley at a press conference.
The Miss World Contest is held annually, starting with the 1951 year. This is one of the Big Four international beauty contests along with Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth. Miss World collects contenders for the crown of the 130 countries of the world.
Since Julia Morley became CEO in 2000, she has added new humanitarian themes to the competition.
The “Beauty with a goal” section, starting with 1971, requires each participant to submit a charity project aimed at helping their home country.
“We need to understand that there are people who need help,” said Ms. Morley.
Miss World Thailand 2018 Nikolena Pichapa Limmsnukan became the first Thai girl to win the crown of Miss World and Miss Asia. Nikolin is 19 years old, she is a student at the Faculty of Business at the University of Commerce in Thailand. She works on a charitable basis in favor of autistic children.
