|Thailand extended the period for issuing free visas for citizens of 20 countries
The Thai Cabinet of Ministers extended the temporary cancellation of visa fees for tourists from 20 countries until the end of April, according to the Bangkok Post.
It is assumed that this measure will have a positive impact on the tourism sector in Thailand, especially during the celebration of the Chinese New Year in the first week of February. And also during the Songkran festival in mid-April.
Recall that earlier the temporary cancellation of the visa fee in the amount of two thousand baht was supposed to last until January 13.
In general, this step is aimed at increasing tourist traffic from China, which has recently declined due to the economic downturn and shipwreck on the island of Phuket, during which dozens of Chinese tourists were killed.
