|Thailand has formed a national Committee for Tourism Protection and Security. The main objective of the new body is to monitor compliance with security measures in the tourism sector.
The new body was headed by Mr. Virasak Kousurat, Minister of Tourism and Sport. "The new body is formed with the main goal of improving safety standards and protecting tourists in Thailand," the minister said.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is tasked with preparing additional preventive safety guidelines and travel recommendations.
“The new leadership will be developed not only regarding the safety of maritime tourism. The new document will also reflect safety standards and raise awareness of crime issues in all parts of the country, ”said Mr. Virasac.
“In order to increase the country's competitiveness in the field of tourism and the confidence of foreign tourists, the Ministry of Tourism has developed an 19 summer development plan for the industry from 2018 to 2037. At the same time, the established rules and regulations must be strictly followed.
Only compliance with the rules and regulations will help turn Thailand into a preferred vacation spot for foreign visitors, ”said Mr. Virasac.
According to the new plans, TAT will become the main agency that in practice is able to manage in crisis situations. The Tourism Authority has been requested to develop plans to assist the affected tourists and submit them to the National Tourism Policy Committee.
“The government should apply more stringent measures to ensure compliance with basic security measures and regulations so that Thailand’s attractiveness as a place of rest for foreign travelers continues to grow,” said Mr. Markland Blyklok, deputy general director of Centara Hotels and Resort.
