New rules for visiting the Similan Islands entered into force.
In order to preserve the nature of Thailand’s exotic islands, the number of visitors to Similan is limited. Overnight on the island is also prohibited.
Under the new law, which came into force on October 16, night rest on the Similan Islands is prohibited. Except when lodging is included in the program and reserved by licensed night diving companies.
The number of daily visitors to a tropical archipelago from January 1 2019 will be limited to 3325 people, plus the number of 525 divers people per day.
Tourist vessels with a seating capacity of more than 100 people will not be allowed into the Similan Islands
Last year, the daily number of visitors to the Similan Islands reached 5 thousands of people per day, and this had a negative effect on the ecology of the islands.
