Wat Yan excursion in Pattaya
This tour overlaps in many ways with another great excursion program: "Magic East". It can also be said that the proposal under discussion is a kind of "Magic East Light." If you are not attracted to participate in Buddhist rituals included in a more extensive program, then you can safely opt for this offer.
So, we begin our journey and plunge into a world full of rich history and legends. We will visit places where peace, harmony and meditation reign.
The temple complex of Wat Yanasang Vararam (or Wat Yan for short) is located in a picturesque valley near Pattaya. By its scope, it is recognized as one of the largest in Thailand. This temple complex is under the patronage of the Royal Family.
One of the main shrines of the temple complex Wat Yan is a stupa with a buried particle of Buddha. We will know the power of the Enlightened One and go to another Buddhist shrine - the footprint of the Buddha. And the way to this relic is not easy. It is necessary to overcome the stairs of the three hundred steps. It is hard, but as the legend says, the karma of a walking parishioner is cleared with each step. And at the top you have a bright future and a magnificent view of the temple complex and its surroundings! Of course, climbing this ladder is not a mandatory part of the program and is optional.
The journey continues in the palace of the Emperor of China, the temple - museum of Viharn Sien. This is a rich exhibition of gifts from China, presented to Thailand. You will see more than two hundred figures of gods and saints, which are made of bronze, the world's largest statues of lions from whole granite, authentic figures of terracotta warriors, sculptures of Shaolin monks and much, much more!
The next stop will be in a beautiful park at the foot of Khao Chichan mountain. Great place to relax and meditate. Here is the world's largest image of a meditating Buddha, made of gold plates. It is about the height of 160 meters, and the width of 70 meters! The creation of this image was timed to the 50 Anniversary of the reign of King Rama IX. The cost of this image was over ฿160 million.
We are heading to a Thai ethnic village. Of course, its main attraction is the long-necked women of the Karen tribe, internationally known for their tradition of decorating their neck with lengthening rings. It is believed that the longer the neck, the more beautiful the woman and may have a greater choice of suitors. The price includes 15-minutes elephant rides around the village, crocodile feeding in the local pond, and some seasonal fruit.
Wat Yan and Funeral of Failures
You can add to the usual excursion a visit to a Buddhist temple and the famous rite Funeral of Failures. The Funeral of Failure ceremony in Pattaya is available separately, in addition - it is included in the tour "Magic East". It is standard in all cases - with lay in colorful coffins, blessing of monks, reading of ancient mantras. If you wish to undergo "Funeral of Failures" ritual, then take into account such a moment that you will need to make alms to the monks. It costs ฿199 and the guide will help in the process of choosing alms. You can buy a gift for the monks on the way to the temple.
