Diving in Pattaya Thailand
Here we consider proposals for certified PADI or the like. If you already have diving experience (certified by PADI or another similar system) and want to see the beauty of the underwater world and the inhabitants of the Gulf of Siam with your own eyes, then you can join the diving group and make 2 dives near the islands from Pattaya.
If you have not taken diving courses before and do not have a certificate for the PADI system or the like, go to this offer.
Pattaya dive sites
Usually we start to near islands. "Near Islands" - this means the removal of 4-7 nautical miles from Pattaya. Dive sites are located around Koh Krok, Koh Sak and Koh Larn (better known as Coral island). If on the specified dive sites poor visibility or something else will interfere with diving - go further to Koh Man Wichai.
In the waters of Pattaya and the surrounding islands are always ideal conditions for diving. The water temperature during the year is +28 ... +32 °C, only in the winter months it can drop to +24... +25 °C. There are no large sharks, big octopuses, killer whales and other dangerous fauna.
As a rule, dive sites are located in the area of the islands adjacent to the resort: Koh Krok, Koh Lan, Koh Rin, etc. They are well protected from strong winds. Underwater currents are mainly tidal here. Near which islands will you dive? It is difficult to say when booking a service, as this is influenced by several factors. The main ones are weather patterns, ebb and flow times, as well as military trainings (there are several bases of the Thai Army near Pattaya).
Of course, the most optimal time for diving in Pattaya is from November to April. At this time, the visibility under the water, even from the nearest islands to the city, can be from 7 to 15 meters. And at distant ones, for example, near Koh Samae San (Princess Island) increases to 20 meters. When the rainy season begins (May - October), visibility of course decreases and as a rule is 5-7 meters. But this does not mean that in the "low season" you will not be able to go diving! Just tune in to the fact that the best visibility will be at the depths of 5-10 meters. You somehow enjoy the beauty of the underwater world. After all, in any immersion has its charms, and even in the waters of the nearby islands there is something to see.
Outlets at sea are always held on a specially equipped diving adventure ship with all the necessary equipment. It can comfortably accommodate 15 people, and the size of the group can be very different. But this is one of those very cases when the smaller the group, the better. After the dives you will be offered a hearty lunch, which is prepared right on the ship.
Many guests of Pattaya have previously been to the resorts of Egypt, dived there and love to compare the underwater world of the Gulf of Thailand with what they could see plunging into the Red Sea. In this case, the usual delusion is to assume that the underwater world of the Red Sea is richer. Well, what can I say: the underwater world of the Gulf of Siam and the Red Sea is no better and no worse than each other, because they are different! First of all, it is possible to note the landscape of the underwater landscape, the variety of sponges, the abundance of soft corals. Especially at the base of the islands with rocky faults extending to the depth or reaching like terraces. Any rocks, stones and boulders are completely dotted with corals and anemones of various kinds. And their coloring is sometimes insanely bright! The most beautiful places just filled with underwater life are usually observed at depths of 8-15 meters. A huge number of sponges, soft corals, wire and fire corals. In addition, there are many varieties of brain corals of various sizes, colors and shapes. Coral scallops, ringed worms (spirobranchuses), magnificent sea lilies like to settle in underwater rocks. Many large (up to 30-40 cm) scaly tridaxes, black trepangs and sea urchins are found in abundance.
Very often, the review is closed with a kind of "curtain" of small coral fish. By the way, this also distinguishes the Gulf of Thailand from what can be seen in the Red Sea. The animals here are somewhat smaller in size than in the Red Sea and are extremely numerous. Who is there just not! You can watch parrot fish, angels, giant groupers and moray eels. Small sharks can be found no more than a meter in length, mainly from the nurse-shark genus. They are not dangerous. It affects how many stingrays and globals are here, but they are rarely found in the Red Sea. The fish-ball is very large in size, if you unexpectedly meet with you, these fish can swell up to half a meter. You can often see an interesting neighborhood: under a coral or in a crevice, a ballfish and moray eel, a nurse shark, a ramp, a moray eel. And all this in a fairly limited space. Finally, it is not uncommon here sea turtles of several species, fish may be found more characteristic of freshwater bodies (in particular, catfish).
Diving in Thailand - Things to note
Since you have the experience of diving, you are well aware of this moment. Never drink alcohol for 24 hours before diving. The presence of signs of alcohol is an unconditional reason for the denial of service and a fine of 100% cost. Alcohol and diving are incompatible.
