Ho Chi Minh tour from Thailand

A two-day excursion to Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) departs from Pattaya, Bangkok and Hua Hin. According to the program, we get acquainted with the key attractions of the second most important city in Vietnam.

Buddhist pagoda of Vinh Nghiem. You may have traveled to different countries of the East and visited many famous Buddhist temples. But in such a dynamic city as Ho Chi Minh City, there is still another Vietnamese Buddhist temple that should not be missed. Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, built in the middle of the 20th century, combines elements of traditional oriental and modern style. Its extravagant, but very harmonious architecture cannot leave anyone indifferent. The pagoda is attractive as the most sacred temple, where every person finds peace of mind and tranquility after the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Vinh Nghiem is a Buddhist academy of southern Vietnam. And on the first and fifteenth days of every month, Buddhists come here to pray for happiness and prosperity in the family. It is its prayerful nature and architectural originality that give vital breath to Vietnamese Buddhism. Buddha is in your soul. Receive peace of mind from the mysterious Vinh Nghiem Temple on your way to discovering the fabulous country of Vietnam.

The Museum of Military History is one of the most visited places in Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition mainly consists of photographs and captured equipment and reveals new aspects of the war. The Americans dropped so many bombs on the country that each Vietnamese “had” 100 kilograms of lethal cargo. The Vietnamese, who have a philosophical attitude towards death, present very sharp and shocking documents for inspection at the museum.

The Cathedral of Notre Dame de Saigon is one of the symbols of Ho Chi Minh City, located on Paris Square in the city center. According to the idea of the French builders, the cathedral was to become a copy of the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral. But it turned out absolutely different from Paris. Still, it's quite elegant. The facade is made in the neo-Romanesque style, and its slender 60-meter towers can be used to orientate yourself in the city. The bricks for the walls of the Notre Dame de Saigon Cathedral were transported from Marseille, and the construction itself cost about 2.5 million francs. So the Vietnamese are rightly proud of this building.

The building of the Central (sometimes named as Main or General) Post Office in Ho Chi Minh City is also an architectural landmark. In the very center of Ho Chi Minh City, next to the Catholic Cathedral of Notre Dame de Saigon, the building of the city's Central Post Office is located. Interestingly, the building was designed by the famous Gustave Eiffel. Yes, the same one who designed the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Statue of Liberty in New York. The huge Central Post Office building in Ho Chi Minh City appeared in 1891.

Photo stop at Reunification Palace. This is a historical place, although in some sense it can be called a museum. The palace of the former president of South Vietnam. For the Vietnamese, this palace is a symbol of the end of the war, as it officially ended on April 30, 1975, when the palace gates were broken through and a tank of North Vietnamese troops entered the territory.

Photo stop at the Opera House. The Ho Chi Minh City Opera House was built according to the design of the French architect Ferret. Construction started in 1897 and the theater opened in 1900. Built in Gothic style, it is a prime example of French colonial architecture in Vietnam. The design is a bit like the Paris Opera building. No wonder hundreds of tourists come to see it. The facade is decorated with bas-reliefs following the example of the Petit Palais museum in Paris.

Stop at the Ben Thanh Market. Ben Thanh Market is one of the best shopping places in Ho Chi Minh City. This huge market takes us back to the days of the French occupation. Ben Thanh Market does not look as majestic and attractive as stylish modern shopping centers, but there is something about it that attracts even the most capricious and demanding customers.
