"Ayutthaya & Bang Pa In" • tour from Pattaya
One day trip to Ayutthaya ancient capital of Siam from Pattaya, Thailand is an excellent alternative to Cambodia Tours and generally suitable for all who love history, ruins, architecture. A tour to Ayutthaya (sometimes called Ayuttiya or Autthaya) is performed from Pattaya.
It is precisely known who is the founder of Ayutthaya, so called as "Rome of Southeast Asia". In 1350th, the ruler of the principality of Uthong founded the capital of the then-new state of Siam at the confluence of the Pasak and Chao Phraya rivers. Indeed, in those days there were very important trade routes. He declared himself King Rama Thibody I. Thirty-three monarchs had changed in the next four hundred and seventeen years. And after them there were magnificent palaces and temples!
The ruler of the neighboring state of Burma, Bayinnaul, in the second half of the sixteenth century captured Ayutthaya, setting the former governor of the province of Pisnulok on the throne. And he took his young son as a hostage. He grew up in the royal palace with the Burmese Prince Min Chit Sva. They became friends so much that they began to consider themselves brothers. One day, the ruler of Burma released his hostage to Siam, and popular revolts against foreign intervention began there. Then the former hostage, Naresuan, led the rebels. For courage and fearlessness, he was nicknamed the Black Prince. When the rebel battle broke out against the Burmese army, Naresuan killed his "brother" Min Chit Sva in battle. As a result of the victory, Ayutthaya, after twenty years of foreign occupation, again became the capital of an independent state.
But the attempts of the Burmese to seize Ayutthaya did not stop. After a long siege in April 1767, the Burmese army broke into the capital of Siam and destroyed it to the ground. Thousands of people were abolished, many thousands of Thais were captured. All the valuable Burmese took with them, but only ruins of the capital remained.
Modern Ayutthaya
Today Ayutthaya is a small provincial town approximately seventy kilometers north of Bangkok. The center of Ayutthaya, which as before is surrounded by two rivers and an artificial canal, is thus on the island and all attractions are divided into those that are "on the island" and beyond. Temple complexes are scattered over a large area, so it is optimal to have a full day for the most complete inspection.
Ayutthaya is a historical architectural reserve and is protected by UNESCO. It is real Angkor Wat in Thailand! Only much closer and without crossing the border. During this exciting trip, experienced historian guide will talk about the history of Ayutthaya and many other interesting events from the past of the Kingdom of Siam, about the legendary heroes! You will also find a magnificent national style lunch in one of the best restaurants in Ayutthaya. A lot of delicious Thai dishes.
