Koh Chang and Koh Ngam from Pattaya
The "Strait of Siam" or "5 Islands" is a very interesting author's excursion from Pattaya to Koh Chang. The tourist program, among other things, offers accommodation in a unique hotel "Tantawan Resort", which bungalows stand on stilts in the sea and are equipped with a transparent floor in the living room.
Excursion "5 Islands" from Pattaya is carried out on the island of Koh Chang and it is necessary to talk about it separately. Since the "Strait of Siam" is almost an individual program and differs from other excursions from Pattaya to Koh Chang - one of the largest and most picturesque islands in Thailand.
This tour in Pattaya was formerly called "5 Islands". In 2018, it was renamed "The Strait of Siam" and it means the same program. The "Strait of Siam" excursion from Bangkok has not yet been performed. The excursion has a third variant of the name: "Thai Polynesia". In the middle of the living room, skilful builders and designers have prudently made a transparent window covered with thick and very durable glass. And it turned out to be a real window into the underwater world, a kind of aquarium served by nature. In which, during the day and at high tide, you can really observe naughty coral fish! It is clear that the fish simply gather in flocks in the shade created by the building standing on stilts, but nevertheless this is an additional entertainment, especially if children see such a picture. And simply, a window on the floor is a very extraordinary solution. Secondly, the very location of the hotel. Far from the bustle of the resort, in a secluded and very quiet place. From here there is absolutely no need to make any long sea passages to get to uninhabited islands. The water area is decorated with a whole group of uninhabited or almost uninhabited islets, which are literally buried in greenery and sometimes so close to them that you can swim. And if not by swimming, then by kayak. Including the beautiful island of Ko Ngam, known in Thailand and beyond as Phi Phi Noi.
Indeed, Pi Pi Noi is an excellent place! It is amazingly beautiful, untouched tropical nature surrounds you everywhere. Even taking a bath, you can admire the magnificent views of the islands through the window!
By the way, when booking a room in this hotel through any specialized site on the Internet, it turns out that one night in the exotic hotel "Tantawan Resort Koh Chang" will cost 100-200 $ per room, or even more. "5 Islands - Siam Strait" tour details
There will not be a large group of tourists on the "5 Islands" excursion. Delivery from Pattaya hotels to the pier to Koh Chang is carried out by a fast and comfortable minivan. The ideal option is to go on this trip with a small group of 4-6 people. We leave the bustling Pattaya around five or six o'clock in the morning and do not make any long stops along the way, as is typical for the classic (sometimes more expensive) tours from Pattaya to Koh Chang. Strictly speaking, the transfer from Pattaya to Koh Chang is not very long and tiring. This cannot be compared to bus tours from Pattaya or Bangkok to the River Kwai, or to Cambodia. By half past nine in the morning, we arrive at the pier to Koh Chang. After boarding the ferry, we cross over the strait between the mainland and Koh Chang. This strait is not wide, the ferry voyage takes 40 minutes maximum and we are on the pier of Koh Chang!
In most cases, check-in to hotels in Thailand takes place at 13:00. At the so-called "check-in time". But the "Tantawan Resort" on Koh Chang makes an exception. And we check into cozy bungalows at 11:00AM - 12:00PM.

Yes, for some similarity of landscapes and the location of a narrow sandy strip between two islands rising sharply above the sea, this place was called Phi-Phi Noi, or "little Phi Phi". On Phi Phi Noi, white beaches, complete silence and a rich underwater world. The island is so close to the hotel that it will not be difficult for those who can swim well to cross the strait. But due to the presence of waves, it is highly recommended to swim in a kayak. At first it may seem that Ko Ngam is uninhabited, but this is not so. There is a bungalow-style hotel in the shade of coconut trees, and eco-tourism lovers can spend the night on Ko Ngam in tents.
For the guests of "Tantawan Resort Koh Chang" there is an opportunity to organize a night fishing. Koh Chang has excellent fishing, the catch here is the most exotic and you can cook it.
On the second day after breakfast - time to rest on Phi Phi Noi or other nearby islands. Kayaks, snorkel, masks and fins are again at your disposal.
